We use Canada Post for all shipping. Shipping is calculated on checkout based on weight and dimensions of the product(s) you are purchasing. Under the drop down menu, there are a selection of different shipping options and rates. We always ship the most cost effective method possible. Many of our smaller items ship via Lettermail which is much cheaper than small parcel options.
For international shipments, we recommend opting for a service that offers tracking. International orders may take longer in transit due to distance, weather, and customs.
Please be aware of your local laws and import restrictions. This is the responsibility of the customer, not Spade & Feather.
Additional taxes and duties may apply to your order and the customer is responsible for these.
If your item is delivered after the Canada Post Delivery Standard, we will refund your shipping charges within 15 days of shipping once you notify us of the delay. When shipping hatching eggs, we cannot refund the cost of the eggs if the shipment is late. Canada Post will also not refund the cost of the eggs. This is the risk with shipping eggs.
Local Pick up
Certain items (live animals, eggs, plants, etc) cannot be shipped and require local pick up. All local pick ups of feed or live animals are free as long as they are in North Etobicoke. For orders consisting of items other than feed or live animals, we no longer offer free local pickup. Pick ups outside the immediate area will be subject to extra charges. Delivery within the GTA for an item (not including coops) is a flat rate of $80.
Certain products (live animals, eggs, plants, etc) are only available by local pick up and prior arrangements must be made before purchase. If purchased without making arrangements beforehand, a 10% restocking fee on all items will apply (please see full policy here).
To complete an order using local pick up you must email us to make arrangements for pick up before purchasing.
All pick ups are at the Tim Hortons at Islington and Elmhurst in North Etobicoke. Due to past security issues, we do not have visitors to our place of business.
We do not accept Cash on Delivery, even for local pick ups.
If you are not satisfied with the shipping charges being quoted through the software, please contact us and we will see if there is a cheaper method to ship your selected items.
Some products may have a lead time associated with them as they are made to order. The delivery times quoted by the software are not from when the order was placed, but from when the order is shipped. We do our best to ship as fast as we can and if there will be any delays we will contact you immediately. Most orders ship within 1-2 days.
